The CORE Institute was founded in Tallahassee, Florida in 1990 by George & Patricia Kousaleos. For 24 years CORE Institute trained over 1,200 individuals in both 500-hour and 650-hour Professional Massage Therapy Licensure programs that focused on advanced manual therapy, anatomy & physiology, professional ethics, and community service. This program was closed in January 2014 allowing the CORE Institute to currently focus its energies on advanced educational programs. In 1992, CORE Institute developed advanced continuing education seminars on CORE Structural Integration, CORE Myofascial Therapy and CORE Sports & Performance Bodywork. These advanced programs have been taught to over 5,000 manual therapists in the US, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Spain, Germany and Australia. CORE Institute also sponsors annual educational retreats on the Greek island of Santorini.

 CORE Institute was proud to sponsor the Sports Massage Team that worked with the athletes and coaches of the British Olympic Association during their Olympic Preparation Camps for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. George was also a Co-Director of the International Sports Massage Team at the 2004 Athens Olympics and Paralympics, bringing 180 massage therapists from 18 countries to the first Olympiad in Greece since 1896. George's work with elite athletes continues through the development of the CORE Sports Bodywork Team in 2011. This team works twice each week with the athletes of the Florida State University Football Team (2013 National Champions) and has helped reduce soft-tissue injuries by over 75%.

CORE Institute also provides online courses for the mandatory Florida CE requirements in Professional Ethics, Medical Errors and Florida Laws & Rules.
