2020 CORE Sports Bodywork & Functional Stretch Therapy

 Clinical Mentorship Program

Sponsored by

XPE Sports & CORE Institute

Tony Villani, MS, founder of XPE Sports, and George Kousaleos, LMT, founder of CORE Institute, have joined forces to create an elite educational program in sports & performance bodywork. Beginning on January 5, 2020, the first of seven week long mentorship programs for advanced certification training in CORE Sports & Performance Bodywork and Functional Stretch Therapy will take place at XPE Sports in Boca Raton and Ft Lauderdale FL. The clinical focus of this unique educational program will be on providing manual therapy services for the football athletes in residence for the 2020  XPE NFL Combine Prep. This certification training has lead to the development of a national team that will work nationwide with professional, Olympic, and elite collegiate athletes.

Each week in January and February,  eight massage therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare practitioners will spend each morning studying myofascial therapy protocols and structural integration strategies developed over the past three decades by George Kousaleos. They will also learn Functional Stretch Therapy that integrates with the myofascial protocols. Each team of therapists will then provide afternoon clinical sessions for the elite collegiate football players who are participating in intensive speed, power, and skill training for the NFL Combine with Tony Villani and his staff of sports performance and sports medicine professionals.

Tony Villani has earned the reputation as a leader in the field of athletic performance and is considered the “speed guru” for hundreds of NFL athletes who return for off-season training at XPE Sports. Tony’s work has been featured on ESPN, CBS Sports and the NFL Network. His ability to increase speed, power, and athleticism is unrivaled in professional sports, as many of his 25 First Round Draft Picks were initially slotted to be picked in the 2nd – 4th rounds. Through XPE Sports training, many NFL athletes maintain high performance levels throughout the season, while sustaining lower injury rates than other NFL players.

George Kousaleos has been at the forefront of developing national and international Olympic sports massage therapists (General Manager of the 1996 British Olympic Preparation Camps Sports Massage Team, and Co-Director of the 2004 Athens Health Services International Sports Massage Team) and directs the elite CORE Sports Bodywork team that has provided the athletes of the Florida State University Football Team with structural and myofascial bodywork sessions since 2011. FSU Football has experienced a dramatic drop in soft-tissue injury rates during the past four seasons. Since 1990 the CORE Institute has trained thousands of both entry-level and advanced massage therapists in Myofascial Therapy, Sports & Performance Bodywork Therapy and CORE Structural Integration.

Dr. Kevin Christie, owner of Health-Fit Chiropractic and Sports Medicine, is a leading Chiropractic Physician and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. He is the Clinical Director of XPE NFL Combine Prep, and will lead discussions on sports injuries, integrative treatment modalities, and the coordination of sports medicine team personnel. Dr. Christie is certified in A.R.T., A.R.T. Biomechanics, the Graston Technique, and Kinesiotaping. He specializes in gait analysis and has worked with hundreds of NFL, MLB and NHL athletes during their off-season training. In 2009 he was appointed to the Florida Board of Athletic Trainers as the Chiropractic advisor.

The application process for participation in this unique certification program will begin in September, 2020. Participants will submit a professional resume, two letters of recommendation, telephone or Skype interviews, and proof of professional liability insurance.
