2017 CORE Sports Bodywork Certification
And Clinical Mentorship Program
XPE Sports & CORE Institute
Tony Villani, MS, founder of XPE Sports, and George Kousaleos, LMT, founder of CORE Institute, have joined forces to create an elite educational program in sports & performance bodywork. Beginning on January 8, 2017, the first of eight week long mentorship programs for advanced certification training in CORE Sports & Performance Bodywork, will take place at XPE Sports in Boca Raton, FL. The clinical focus of this unique educational program will be on providing manual therapy services for the football athletes in residence for the 2017 XPE NFL Combine Prep. This certification training will lead to the development of a national team that will work nationwide with professional, Olympic, and elite collegiate athletes.
Each week in January and February, eight massage therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare practitioners will spend each morning studying myofascial therapy protocols and structural integration strategies developed over the past three decades by George Kousaleos. Each team of therapists will then provide afternoon clinical sessions for the elite collegiate football players who are participating in intensive speed, power, and skill training for the NFL Combine with Tony Villani and his staff of sports performance and sports medicine professionals.
Additional XPECORE Sports Bodywork Mentorship programs will be offered each July during the XPE NFL Off-Season Prep trainings for current NFL Athletes.
Tony Villani has earned the reputation as a leader in the field of athletic performance and is considered the “speed guru” for hundreds of NFL athletes who return for off-season training at XPE Sports. Tony’s work has been featured on ESPN, CBS Sports and the NFL Network. His ability to increase speed, power, and athleticism is unrivaled in professional sports, as many of his 25 First Round Draft Picks were initially slotted to be picked in the 2nd – 4th rounds. Through XPE Sports training, many NFL athletes maintain high performance levels throughout the season, while sustaining lower injury rates than other NFL players.
George Kousaleos has been at the forefront of developing national and international Olympic sports massage therapists (General Manager of the 1996 British Olympic Preparation Camps Sports Massage Team, and Co-Director of the 2004 Athens Health Services International Sports Massage Team) and directs the elite CORE Sports Bodywork team that has provided the athletes of the Florida State University Football Team with structural and myofascial bodywork sessions since 2011. FSU Football has experienced a dramatic drop in soft-tissue injury rates during the past four seasons. Since 1990 the CORE Institute has trained thousands of both entry-level and advanced massage therapists in Myofascial Therapy, Sports & Performance Bodywork Therapy and CORE Structural Integration.
